  4.        DOSNIX now has a support BBS.  John Morrison, SYSOP of the
  5.         MAILBOX BBS, has graciously provided a support conference for

  16.     1.    The mods made in 2.0c worked fine with MSDOS on my VGA 
  17.        system.  They also worked with DRDOS on my CGA system.  I
  18.        just tried MSDOS on my CGA system and could not use READ,
  19.        LS, or FFIND.  Turns out that MSDOS wiil not store the
  20.        number of screen rows in low memory unless you are using
  21.        EGA or VGA.  DOSNIX now defaults to 25 rows for CGA and
  22.        Hercules monitors.

  28.     1.    A DOSNIX user reported the following problem:  When 
  29.         LS and FFIND were used with extremely large DOS partitions 
  30.         (greater than 32mb) the amount of free space reported was 
  31.         wrong.  This was due to overflow when converting from 
  32.         clusters  to bytes.  The problem has now been fixed.

  37.     1.    When LS and FFIND were used without ANSI.SYS being  
  38.         installed, there were some problems with highlighting.
  39.         EDC had a problem of this nature  when displaying the 
  40.         directory tree. These problems have now been fixed.

  42.     2.    Both versions of READ now use direct screen writes for
  43.         faster pages.  CGA cards are automatically detected and
  44.         horizontal retrace checking is performed to avoid snow.

  46.     3.    READ can now handle text modes other than 80 X 25 and
  47.         will configure itself to the mode in use, including 132
  48.         column modes.  LS, EDC, FFIND and CLR have also been
  49.         modified to work properly in extended text modes.

  56.     1.    When using EDC, if the -t option was combined with the 
  57.         -s option, the path file would be removed but a new one would 
  58.         not be generated.  EDC would then have to scan the drives
  59.         the next time it was used.  The problem has now been fixed.

  67.     1.    EDC now uses just one path file for all hard disk
  68.         partitions, stored in the root directory of drive C.
  69.         This change improves the way the backspace key works
  70.         during speed searches, and should allow EDC to run 
  71.         faster  on large systems with many logical drives.  You 
  72.         can still access drives explicitly but the speed advantage 
  73.         won't be that great.   Floppy drives still have a separate 
  74.         path file for each floppy, and you will have to scan each 
  75.         floppy  disk to install the path file.

  77.     2.    When a directory was created, removed or renamed
  78.         on a drive locked out with EDNOSCAN, EDC would still 
  79.         try to access the path file.  This problem has now been
  80.         fixed.

  82.     3.    LS has been upgraded to work  with the new version of EDC. 
  83.         You should not try to use  an older version of LS with this 
  84.         version of EDC.

  93.     1.    READ will now allow you to pull in a new file without
  94.         leaving the program.  Pressing F4 will display the current
  95.         directory.  You can then use the arrow keys to select a
  96.         new file or a new directory.  You can start the program in
  97.         this mode by using a directory as an argument.  F2 and F3
  98.         can now be used to start and continue string searches.

  100.     2.    EDC has been completely reworked and can change to any
  101.         directory on any hard drive without using a drive spec.
  102.         EDC will automatically  scan your drives the first time it 
  103.         is run.  Unwanted drives can be locked out by setting the
  104.         environment variable EDNOSCAN to the letters of the drives
  105.         you want to ignore.  When displaying the directory tree,
  106.         EDC will now give you an opportunity to choose a directory
  107.         at the end of each page.  A new menu for matching directories
  108.         has been installed in both EDC and LS.

  111.     3.    FFIND can now locate files either by date or number of
  112.         days back.

  114.     4.    SGREP is now a lot faster than it used to be.
